The works of art on these pulps were done by iconic illustrators as well as unknowns in the business. The idea was to sell books! And to sell stories that were filled with action and adventure. Page turners that offered a visceral experience to the reader along with hours of inexpensive entertainment! But, that doesn’t mean the dime novels or penny dreadfuls weren’t well written. Some of the world’s top writers got their start in the pulps. The Harbinger books from Cahn fall into the second group. Well written and carrying an important message. It’s old VivaChas that had the inspiration to create a series of illustrations for The Harbinger series. It’s just Good Clean Fun as they say and keeps an artist off the streets, so to speak!
