Men and women are always negotiating. My experience has been that both parties are in pursuit of the same outcome. My old friend Harry Chin says that I’m foolish to believe as I do. Maybe I am but I don’t care. Harry calls it the battle of the sexes. And I still say Chatting Up is the forging of a mutually beneficial agreement. This work of art from Chas Sinklier, aka VivaChas, is titled Chatting Up Last Chance. I thought about calling it Chatting Up Optimists or Last Chance for Romance because both the he and the she in these maneuvers were playing a hopeful game. I don’t really know the individuals that hopped out of the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado but I’m pretty sure I can read their intentions. They’re on a date. Whether it’s a formal night out for two acquaintances or perfect strangers hoping not to spend another night alone, I just don’t know. But I’ve traveled enough miles and met thousands of people all desperately alone in their own skin. I’m not judging these people mind you. That’s above my pay grade! I’m an artist; an observer of people and their ways. And as such I know that this couple has pulled up at the motel to avoid spending another night each alone. I can see that they have something in common. He drives a Cadillac and she wants to get to know a nice man who drives an Eldorado no less. BTW, the parking lot of the Notel Motel is full of rides belonging to Perfect Strangers like our couple here. This is your VivaChas digital painting. It should be up on your walls.
