One thing I really like about the Mission Trail in San Antonio (Texas) was the concept that these missions as we see them today bear little resemblance to their heyday back in the 1700s. They are now surrounded by neighborhoods and in the case of San Jose, businesses. Nah, back-in-the-day their land holdings were vast. Some of the larger missions had farmlands that ran nearly to the Texas Coast and that�s a long way.
So, while at Concepcion I was taken by the depth of historical significance in the place. The old walls held in them the memory of life, death, suffering and joy! How can one hold that as an active memory with a dull old snap-shot? Can�t be done! The memory needs a jog! That�s why I shoot some of me pix the way I do. That�s why the aura around objects. I�m not just capturing a snap � who needs that! I�m exploring the spirit of the place. I�m recording it�s life.
