1932 Ford Highboy Roadster
In previous posts we bantered back and forth about the 1932 Ford Lowboy Roadster. Today - we're having a look at a particularly fine example of a '32 Ford Highboy Roadster. What's the difference? Glad U asked! So What's a Ford Highboy? Maybe some of U will recall that a Lowboy has had the floor-pan cut free of the body. That allows the body of the rod to be lowered over the chassis. That makes the rod appear much lower. And without major chassis work. As U can see from the very nice VivaChas poster of a spectacular '32 Ford Highboy Roadster - It sits atop the frame rails. That's the chassis - the frame. Channeling a Ford Highboy is not Metaphysical - Ha! Okay - just a little patience from more experienced readers. For those who are still wondering what I'm talking about - take a look just below the door. Not Ur door! The Hot Rod's door! - And please don't ask which door - Ha! U should be able to just make out a wide horizontal beam running front to back - at the bottom of the rod. That's the frame-rail. And that's the part of the chassis that a lowboy slides over to lower the body over the frame. Got it? Maybe not. On this nice Ford Highboy Roadster U should be able to make out the frame-horns at the front of the rod. They're sticking out at the front. And they have a chrome crossmember running between. '32 Ford Roadster and Jay It's anniversary time!! The '32 Ford is 75 years old and we take a look back at what made this car so popular for so long. But that's not enough, no...Jay Leno shows you that the Deuce is not dead...it's just getting started as he walks you through the iconic '32 Roadster." ~:0) VivaChas!
