Do not pet the possum is good advice. There are a bunch of Opossum stories going around and they're all true. As far as you know. They do seem to eat garbage without ill effects, but since you can't tell 'em apart you never know! We had a Momma possum give birth to a littler of kits in our attic. We didn't want to hurt them mostly because we'd still need to get them out of there. So we did some research on the matter. The method we chose was by far the best method. But you're probably wondering how the pregnant mom got up in the attic. Well, a possum can get anywhere it wants to go. And since our contractor kept putting off installing hardware cloth over the attic vents at the end of each gable the possum momma took her unborn kits inside herself. How cool is that! Anyway, here's how you get just about any critter out of your attic. First, you put a boombox up there playing 24/7 talk radio. Then, you get yourself a quality strobe light. We had a bunch of those at the clubhouse. And then you soak a towel in ammonia and put it in a pan up there. The ammonia smells like male possum marking and no mom wants the old man around once she's done with him. So, within about two weeks they're ready to leave. Note when they've moved on install the hardware cloth over the vents. It doesn't show and it keeps varmints out. BTW, we sent a bill to our contractor for the work we did - haa! So don't pet 'em; don't hurt 'um but wear 'em on a VivaChas Tee!
