Description
Conversation and Iced Tea at Harry’s is a recent portrait study from Chas Sinklier, aka VivaChas! Harry Chin’s Place downtown other side of the tracks is my main competitor downtown. Harry’s a bit more upscale than the VivaChas Clubhouse though we cater to the same crowd. Folks just show up for whatever club’s got going what they want to do that night. So, I’m in Harry’s Place enjoying a big glass of his famous Iced Tea and I see this couple having a conversation at their table at the other end of the bar. We serve the same tea at the clubhouse but at Harry’s they put an orange slice and a celery stalk in it and it’s served up in a huge iced tea glass. Real Glass - Very Classy! Anyway, I’m enjoying watching them and drinking my afternoon tea before walking back up the street to my place. Thing of it is, I’m really enjoying their confab and they spot me and ask me to join them. It was a delightful afternoon of chit-chat and I comped their drinks and invited them to the Clubhouse for the next Get Lucky Death Match that Saturday night. You can look up the Death Match art it's here at FAA. This portrait may not be your cuppa tea, but the humanity in it is certainly mine. ~;0) VivaChas!

My cup of tea as well, Chas. This portrait is so engaging. You could transpose the woman, cigarette and tea to most any setting and the viewer would still be instantly drawn in. What is being said? The list of emotions she could be feeling is endless. For sure, she is not bored. I love the intensity. Really good job.

Thanks Tom! I like to think of myself as a storyteller - It would take a brave collector to put this one up in the breakfast room though! ~;0) VivaChas!
Chas Sinklier replied:
You know Tom that would be a fun project - taking the lady, the the table, the tea and building other images. That's a common commercial art technique - a blast from the past!! I still work up these image using the same methods! But tell no one these secrets ~;0) VivaChas!
