Description
The Portrait of the Girl Who Survived is original, copyrighted work, by Chas Sinklier aka VivaChas! I worked closely with the subject in this digital artwork. She is a Breast Cancer Survivor who wanted a portrait of herself that spoke of her experience. So we spent an afternoon talking. We made reference photos of her Chevy Pickup Truck. And we decided to do a loose sketch and water-colour painting. Since surviving surgery, reconstructive surgery and chemotherapy she's come to understand herself and her place in the "system". Since the event 10 years ago she's done a lot of research. She's consulted with doctors who haven't been so narrow in their treatment models. She's discovered alternatives that she might have pursued rather than the radical methods she endured. She uses her portrait in her counseling practice. She helps others discover that there are other treatments. As she says, "Don't be so frightened that you don't consider options." - It was quite the pleasure and experience working with her on The Portrait of the Girl Who Survived. ~;0) VivaChas!
